Product Information

The latest Studio Ghibli masterpiece is here, in its definitive Blu-ray release! Based on the classic children's book The Borrowers by Mary Norton, this is the story of the young boy Sho who comes to live with his great aunt in a house also inhabited by Borrowers, a little people who live in harmony with humans, but usually invisible. The tale of Show's relationship with Arrietty, a Borrower girl, unfolds with the usual Ghibli touch for whimsy and magic, under the hand of new director Hiromasa Yonebayashi and the guiding influence of writer Hayao Miyazaki. This deluxe Blu-ray edition comes with an amazing amount of extras, including a "picture within picture" feature of the storyboard played alongside the film, the voice actor's recording script, two interviews with Miyazaki (24 minutes) and Yonebayashi (41 minutes), a commemorative featurette on Ghibli released along with Arrietty (43 minutes), a promotional video featuring Arrietty composer Cecile Corbel, and a collection of trailers and promotional shorts. The film itself is 94 minutes, with audio tracks in Japanese, French, Korean, Mandarin and Cantonese, and subtitles in Japanese, English, French, Korean, Mandarin, and Cantonese. The whole thing spans two Blu-ray discs and is packed in a distinctive lovely book-style archival collector's case - a beautiful issuing of a film that's already on the way to becoming a new Ghibli classic.
