J-List Shipping & Customer Agreement

SHIPPING AND CUSTOMER AGREEMENT

SHIPPING FROM OUR JAPAN WAREHOUSE

There are currently three methods of shipping from Japan: DHL, UPS and EMS. Old Airmail, SAL and Seamail are not currently possible.

UPS & DHL

The recommended shipping method for products from Japan are UPS and DHL, private shipping companies that will get your package to you within 2-4 days. Each shipping company has different strengths and more affordable rates when shipping to different countries. To check the shipping amount, add a product to your shopping cart and begin the checkout process, and the shipping options will be displayed.

EMS

EMS is shipped from the Japanese post office to the post office in your country. Packages shipped via EMS include tracking and insurance as part of the shipping cost. In the case a package does not reach its destination, J-List will replace, reship or refund your order.

SHIPPING FROM OUR SAN DIEGO WAREHOUSE

All packages shipped from San Diego use either the USPS (United States Postal Service) or UPS (United Parcel Service).

USPS

Packages shipped via US federal mail are shipped without insurance. Once a package has left our offices, liability for successful shipment is assumed by the shipping service provider (USPS). J-List assumes no responsibility for delay or loss of your package within the USPS system. We are unable to issue replacements or refunds for items lost in this manner. Any complaints or claims should be filed with the USPS.

UPS

Packages shipped via UPS include tracking and insurance as part of the shipping cost. In the case a package does not reach its destination, J-List will replace, reship or refund your order.

EMS AND EXPRESS SHIPPING

Packages shipped via EMS/Priority Postal or their equivalent will include tracking and insurance as part of the shipping cost. In the case a package does not reach its destination, J-List will replace, reship or refund your order.

PREORDERS

J-List now charges the full amount of preorder products at purchase time, to ensure your preordered item is reserved for you. When the preorder comes in stock, we will contact you asking you to complete the order by selecting the shipping method you'd like us to use (UPS or DHL are generally recommended), and paying for the shipping. If you've got special instructions (for example, you want to ship multiple items together), please contact our staff ahead of time via the J-List Ticket System.

We ask you to complete payment for shipping for any preorder within 15 days, so we can send your preorder item to you in a speedy manner. If 30 days have passed with no word from you about shipping, we reserve the right to sell the item on our website, returning your original payment in the form of J-List store credit.

LIMITATION OF LIABILITY

Customers who chose a shipping option without tracking and insurance when a shipping option with tracking and insurance is available to them represents your recognition of the inherent risks of these shipping methods. As such, you agree to waive your right to claim non-arrival in the event that a delivery does not reach its destination. These shipping options include, but are not limited to, Basic Airmail (for shipping from Japan) or USPS (for shipping from San Diego). Conversely, you recognize that choosing a trackable shipping method (EMS, SAL or UPS) does not incur these risks and by accepting a different shipping option you are accepting those inherent risks.

CUSTOMS, DUTIES & TAXES

The recipient is the importer of record and must comply with all laws and regulations of the destination country. Customers are responsible for understanding the importation regulations of the shipping address they specify on their order. Orders may be subject to import taxes, customs duties and fees levied by the destination country. The recipient may be subject to such import taxes, customs duties and fees, which are levied once a shipment reaches the recipient's country. These charges must be borne by the recipient; we have no control over these charges and can't predict what they may be. Customs policies vary widely from country to country; you should contact your local customs office for more information. When customs clearance procedures are required, it can cause delays beyond our original delivery estimates.

SHIPPING FOOD ITEMS

J-List makes sure to send food items that have ample time before it expires but if you choose a shipping method that can take up to 8 weeks to arrive like SAL shipping, J-List will not be held liable for the food items going expired or chocolates melting. We recommend choosing EMS Express or DHL when shipping food items so they are delivered to you fresh and consumable.
