| | VWDZ8036 Spirited Away ~ Sen to Chihiro no Kamikakushi (region 2) | Number in stock: 4 Weight: 200 g. Price: $50.00 Product type: DVD (*zoned for Region Code 2*)
(What is this?) | | The runaway hit anime movie from Hayao Miyazaki, this is Spirited Away (Japanese title Sen to Chihiro no Kamikakushi, or the Spiriting Away of Sen and Chihiro), the film that sunk Titanic as the top-grossing film of all time in Japan. This is the brand new DVD release from Studio Ghibli and Buena Vista Home Entertainment, and it's a dynamite one for fans and collectors of Hayao Miyazaki's excellent feature films.
The charming story follows Chihiro, a girl who is moving to a new town with her parents. They stop to check out an old run-down amusement park, and the next thing Chihiro knows, she's thrown into a world of strange spirits, dragons, speaking frogs, a magical witch, all no less strange than Alice in Wonderland. Of course it's a visual masterpiece, easily the most beautiful animation you've ever seen from Mr. Miyazaki to date. We highly recommend this excellent film to all fans of Studio Ghibli, and are extremely glad to be able to offer it to you! The film features subtitles in English, French and Japanese, and dubbed soundtrack in French and Japanese. The film is provided on 2 DVDs and features many extras, as with all Studio Ghibli's DVD film releases.
This is the menu for disc 1. Options are, on the left side, View film, Chapter, and on the right side, Sound options, and Subtitle options. This is the Tokuten (Extras) Disc menu. Options are, View movie (storyboard version), Film trailers, and more. Spirited Away is a beautiful film, full of incredible scenes and characters that will be especially eye-opening to the Western eye. The images of what Chihiro encounters in the spirit world and call to mind Lewis Carroll very clearly. An incredible combinations of inventions of Mr. Miyazaki's and snippets from tales in ancient Japan and China, this is fabulous example of the quality and dedication that has made Mr. Miyazaki the most famous Japanese person in outside of Japan. You can enjoy the film either with English, French or Japanese subtitles, or dubbed in French, too! | | VWDZ8046 The Cat Returns ~ Neko No Ongaeshi (region 2) | Number in stock: 3 Weight: 200 g. Price: $50.00 Product type: DVD (*zoned for Region Code 2*)
(What is this?) | | | Studio Ghibli has come into its own as one of the world's foremost animation houses. This latest DVD release tells the story of a young girl, Haru, who saves a cat prince from being hit by a truck. In return for saving his son's life, the king of cats changes Haru into a cat to marry his son. But everything is not as it would seem, a war rages between the cats, and Haru isn't so sure she's up to marrying the prince. Directed by Hiroyuki Morita and based loosely on the manga Baron - Neko No Danshaku by Aoi Hiragi, it serves as an unofficial sequel to Whisper of the Heart, including many of the same characters from the cat world. Softer in tone and pace than many of the other Ghibli titles such as Mononoke Hime or Porco Rosso, it is still a Ghibli film in heart and spirit. Captivating, funny, and a treat for audiences who enjoy storylines over violence and action. Filmed in wide-screen, 16:9 format, The Cat Returns has optional Mandarin, Cantonese, English and Japanese subtitles. Included with The Cat Returns is a hilarious look at childhood days of the main character who works at an animation studio with a suspiciously similar name. Called Gibri's: Episode 2, it is a powerhouse of interesting and imaginative animation. A 25-minutes short about first crushes, it's a sweet and funny addition to an already great DVD. Shot in widescreen format with optional English or Japanese subtitles. 100 minutes of great Ghibli animation accompanied by a second DVD with promotional TV sports, character boards, the making of, and great additions. An impressive 160 minutes on the second disc, making this a fantastic buy for all fans of Hayao Miyazaki! (More like this) (Direct link to this product)

| | ADV003 The Fuccons Volume 3 (Oh Mikey!) | Number in stock: 2 Shipping: $5 Airmail (US/Can) Price: $16.50 Product type: DVD (*zoned for Region Code 1*)
| | | The Fuccons originally began as a segment on the Japanese variety show Vermillion Pleasure Night, where it became such a hit that it was spun off into its own TV program (known there as "Oh Mikey!"). At about three minutes an episode, it runs as an interstitial or "bumper" between other programs. The short program has since become one of the biggest phenomena on Japanese TV! All the fun with Japan's favorite mannequin family continues in this, the third volume of The Fuccons, taking a goodnatured swipe at the stereotype of ugly Americans living in Japan. Mikey is still stuck living in Japan, his dad's still mentally vacant, his mother's considering a divorce, and cousin Laura is still out to make his life a living hell. But things are about to get even stranger in Mikey-land. Prepare to meet the Blueberry King, Princess Isabella, and horror of horrors, the mother of twisted twins Tony and Charles. Scathingly satirical and utterly hilarious, THE FUCCON FAMILY continues with this 17-episode collection. 55 minutes. (More like this) (Direct link to this product) |
