| | STU006 Talking About Buddhism ~ Eigo de Hanasu Bukkyou | Number in stock: 8 Weight: 300 g. Price: $18.00 Product type: Bilingual Book
| | | In the eyes of non-Japanese, it seems odd that when Japanese are born, they are taken to a shrine, when they marry, they go to a church, and when they die they go to a temple. When asked, "Why do you do that?" most Japanese are utterly at a loss as to how to answer. The Buddhism that was transmitted to Japan has continued to provide Japanese with wisdom and strength for living. Buddhism has soothed the minds of the people and greatly affected their way of seeing and thinking. No discussion of Japan can overlook Buddhism. Needless to say Buddha of India was the founder of the religion. He attained enlightenment some 500 years before the birth of Christ and approximately 2,500 yeaers before out time. Buddhism was to cross national borders and spread throughout Asia. Its teachers are universal, yet it has transformed itself through the generations and the civilizations and culturs of various countries, and has been accepted in different forms by the peopls of those lands. In recent years, even the West, Buddhist thought has undergone a new appraisal. The present volume includes the essential points that one should know about Buddhism so that one can explain them in straightforward, simple English. Whether one is working, studying or living with a family abroad, the matter of religion will invariably arise. It is hoped that this book will be of value to those who are involved in international relations and businessmen who deal with people of other cultures, as well as those who are studying English. Set up in a Q and A session this book is translated both in Japanese text on one side with the English text on the other side. Occasional furigana pronunciation is listed to develop ones vocabulary in the Japanese language and an excellent purchase for advanced students of Japanese. | | SWN23 Bull-Dog Sauce | This item is in stock in Japan. Weight: 180 g. Price: $2.50 Product type: Japanese Food
| | | In Japan, there are many delicious things. One thing foreigners positively fall in love with is Japanese "sauce" (that's what it's called, just "sauce" in English, although the official name is tonkatsu sauce). A kind of thick, brown sauce that goes with a broad range of delicious food, we recommend sauce with fried food (croquettes, fried and breaded shrimp), eggs, yakisoba, and more. Peter loves to eat Japanese karaage (fried chicken) on rice, with lots of sauce on top, so that the sauce flows down over the chicken and into the rice. This is a handy bottle of 170ml of sauce for you, for many delicious servings! Made by Bulldog! (More like this) (Direct link to this product) |

| | HNK002 Japanese Custom Made Stamp ~ Rectangle 1.5 inch Hanko | This item can be ordered. Weight: 100 g. Price: $8.50 Product type: Custom Japanese Hanko (Name Stamp)
| | Hanko, or name stamps, are a big part of the difference between Japan and the West, and when you "sign" an important document you always do it with one of these stamps. Here's a very flexible custom-printed stamp that will allow you to create just about any message you want in Japanese! This stamp is wide enough to allow you up to 8 characters of Japanese (either kanji, hiragana or katakana) per line, allowing for more complex words and phrases. You can also add additional lines, allowing you to create a larger stamp three lines high, for example one that was 8 characters by three lines for a total of 24 characters. English letters can also be typeset, 14 characters per line. Here are three examples: | | | The wider stamp is recommend if you have a longer Japanese name that won't fit easily into one of the other stamps. For example, Chieko Hasegawa. | You could choose a simple Japanese phrase that you wanted for your stamps, like "arigato" (thank you). | | | | Make a stamp of your favorite Japanese quote. This one is "You're not going to die. I will protect you" from Evangelion. | Or recreate your favorite Haruhi Suzumiya line, like "I have no interest in normal human beings." | | | You can also get English letters typeset, 14 characters per line. Note that if a word is cut off, it will have to be moved to the next line down. |
As with the other custom name stamps, the native Japanese staff of J-List will be happy to work with you to get just the right phrase created for you. After adding this item to your shopping cart you can type comments to the J-List staff and we'll verify the characters you want before finalizing the order. We also humbly request a pronunciation guide for all unique spellings of names. Because the stamps are custom made by a company here in Japan, please allow 2-4 weeks for your name stamp to be made.
